Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour by Morgan Matson
Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine to spotlight any upcoming releases you are eagerly anticipating!
I have heard nothing but great things about this book and I’m in the mood for a cute, fun, summer read, which all the reviews have assured me this is. Plus – one of the main protagonists has my name (I’m less enthusiastic about the name Roger), it has the word ‘epic’ in the title, and its about a road trip (I don’t know why I find this concept so exciting but it’s very American and one day I should like to have a road trip myself, preferably with a cute boy in tow. You know – once I can, like, drive or whatever). And have you seen this cover!? Love it.
So there you go – that’s my WoW this week. Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour is out July 7th and a cool blog tour is coming up soon, kicking off over at the amazing Daisy Chain Books on July 4th!
‘Amy Curry thinks her life sucks. Her mom decides to move from California to Connecticut to start anew—just in time for Amy’s senior year. Her dad recently died in a car accident. So Amy embarks on a road trip to escape from it all, driving cross-country from the home she’s always known toward her new life. Joining Amy on the road trip is Roger, the son of Amy’s mother’s old friend. Amy hasn’t seen him in years, and she is less than thrilled to be driving across the country with a guy she barely knows. So she’s surprised to find that she is developing a crush on him. At the same time, she’s coming to terms with her father’s death and how to put her own life back together after the accident. Told in traditional narrative as well as scraps from the road—diner napkins, motel receipts, postcards—this is the story of one girl’s journey to find herself.’

I’ve heard nothing but great things about this book, too! I need to read it soon. Great pick!! And thanks for stopping by my blog today!
Right back atcha!
It really does sound like the perfect summer read. I’m going to add it to my TBR, now that I’ve created a summer shelf!
A summer shelf is a great idea – lately all my books have been (great) dark and dystopians lol! I need some light, fun summer reads!
This has such a great cover! Much more fun than our US cover—I’ve always wanted to read this one!
It is a fantastic cover isn’t it! So different. I love it!
Ooh, this summary sounds so interesting!! Told from the scraps of the road? Crush on boy while on road-trip & dealing with dad’s death? Wow. Adding it now to my to-read list. I actually hadn’t heard of it all before now so thanks for sharing!!
err, oops. Told with the scraps FROM the road*. Sorry
No worries lol! It’s always great to come across a book on a blog you’ve never heard of but think you’ll love!
